We started out at sunrise. It was a beautiful morning! A little overcast and not too hot.  We make great timing getting to the summit. Our adventure began once we left the summit. We ended up going down the long way. We realized early on that we somehow were traveling the opposite way we came in and thought, why not see some different scenery. After several miles we were getting beat up my the branches that were sticking out we decided it would take us longer than we wanted to get down so we turned around to go back the way we came in.  We did not realize it at the time but we had already hiked 3 miles. so we turned around and went back the other way. When we finally reached our car, we had hike 16 miles! Luckily, we are always prepared. We had plenty of water and food! We had a great day!
