Trail snow-covered at times – Gear and expertise recommended

Got to the packed parking lot at about 7:00am and met with a stranger who became a friend.  We went up to the ski hut without putting on any crampons but there were plenty of people doing it.  Put the crampons on at the ski hut.  At this point there was a rescue helicopter making a rescue for an injured hiker.  He slipped down the snow chute and hit a rock.  Some blood and possible broken leg.  We proceeded to summit by going up the snow chute.  VERY DIFFICULT.  The sun melting the snow did not help.  Use my ice axe most of the way up to keep from sliding back down.  Took the baldy bowl trail back down.  Amazing trip.
