Great, challenging trail! The weather was great, majority of the trail is shady with great foliage, trees, and wildflowers. The trail is well maintained up until the Orchard Camp, then it's a bit over grown but still easy to navigate. We started at the Mt. Wilson Trail park which is 7 miles to the top of Mt. Wilson. I had read it was 6.62 so at the last 1 3/4 miles I was hangry and felt the mileage signs were lying to me…I started to lose all hope, but we magically made it to the top, I ate, and the world was right again! One of the best parts of the hike is we got to see a black bear (I believe that is the type of bear), it was really spectacular. It is an all day hike, it took us 5 hours to get to the top and 3 hours back down (slowed by sore feet). Overall, it was a great hike!
1 – original six-pack peak down, 5 to go; and 1 – alternate peak down, 5 to go!
Hike on!
