2 years (almost) to the day since my first trip to the summit, the 6PP challenge inspired this morning's return to Humphreys. What was quickly made apparent is just how much I've improved physically.
My first go round was a death march of huffing and puffing in midday heat before being caught unprepared & chilled to the bone by winds at the top. More experience meant an earlier (9a) start, packed clothing for the cold (not needed this time,) and a breezy walk to the top with a summit time of 2 hours even.
The trail was predictably VERY well trafficked. The bugs at the peak were thick, with a half dozen or more hitching a ride home in my hair. And to top it off, I took a gnarly spill on the way down, and had an audience for it (experience doesn't fix everything.)
It was a great day.
