Rose Peak sounds so sweet, but this hike was tough. Came in just under 20 miles and 4,974′ of ascent. The summit itself is not so high, but there is a LOT of up-and-down on this route.
It can be done as a day hike or an overnight trip. Either will require permits. There is water available several places either on the trail or just off, but all of it must be treated or filtered.
We saved the detour to Murrietta Falls for another trip. 😉

where do you acquire the permit for a day hike?
Brenda, you can get them at Del Valle Regional Park, but I ordered mine online. Check the guide for links: https://socalhiker.net/hiking-to-rose-peak-via-del-valle-regional-park/
