Number 5 of 6 Done.   First Summit on San Bernadino Peak – good trail, decent views, trail is in good shape, but not my favorite hike.   This was a retry of last Friday's failed attempt due to my bad and not checking trail conditions.  Requested the permit the day before and someone courteous forest service worker got it to me late the vening before – thank you!   Great to see the Monument near the top and read about the history.  If I were to do this one again, it would be later fall.  The main issue was the bugs between mile 1 and 4 which were relentless.  Presume later fall or early season would be a better option.  Otherwise, it is always a great day when in the mountains!
