The goal was to bag Ontario and Cucamonga peak the same day to avoid a 2nd trip to the trailhead. We arrived at 6:30 am and luckily found a spot not far up the road. Not too busy heading up to the IHC saddle. From there we headed over to Ontario Peak. Light trail traffic as I think most people were heading to Cucamonga.
Beautiful views along the ridgeline overlooking the vast cities below. After Ontario we made our way to Big Horn and only passed 2 people on the way to the summit. Couple people made their way to the summit while we snacked and rested then heading down the steep ridgeline down to the Cucamonga saddle.
Being later in the afternoon most of the Cucamonga hikers had already made their way down so as we climbed we had the trail all to ourselves. Only a few people on the summit which was nice. On our decent all the way back to the parking lot we only saw a couple people.
Our timing and route choice worked perfectly. Two very popular peaks on a Sunday and it felt like a weekday with hardly anyone on the mountain.
