Arrived about 8:30. Not a soul around. I was the first car.
Weather was a brisk 42, but virtually no wind and the skies were clear. Trail was in great condition: just damp with the morning dew.
Saw several squirrels and 2 baby skunks. Gave the skunks a wide berth since I didn’t know where the their parents are, who might decide to “defend” them.
The views all the way up were amazing. Vistas of the whole valley and mountain range and a spectacular view of San Jose and the surrounding area. Lots of oak trees and manzanita.
Arrived at the summit and had the whole area to myself Wandered around and took lots of pictures and learned a bit about the area and it’s unique history
All the way up, the entire time I was up there and about half way down, I didn’t see a single soul I eventually crossed paths with about a dozen people and a mountain biker
When I got back to my car, there was about 8 cars in the lot
I’ll definitely go back in the spring to see the foliage blooming
