Well after getting my Whitney pass, to summit in under 4 weeks, it was time to get the miles back in the legs. No place better to start than San Jacinto. A view truly like no other.

The trail is one of my favourites. I love walking through the Redwoods and pine trees and the transition into the rockier areas. There was some snow on the trail in early May, but nothing that stopped me.

The summit was rather windy and cold, but still found time to enjoy a frothy. Qudos to the trail runners who came up from Palm Springs. They were on a hot pace.

This hike is not for the faint-hearted, the Marion trail is steep and unrelenting in the first couple of miles up to the campsite.

During summer, get to the trailhead early and take advantage of the sun being hidden behind the summit.
