Link:

Where you can actually park is about 0.5 miles down the road from the trailhead. There was one section that was extremely muddy and was unavoidable. Other than that, there were three snowfields that we crossed but those weren't bad. It was super green with plenty of wildflowers. A little chilly once you get on the ridge to the peak. Fantastic views. At least half of our way back was in the rain and hail. Gotta watch those afternoon thunderstorms. 😂

  1. Planning on hiking this tomorrow, June 4th. I didn’t see your time or distance listed. Did you use the AllTrails route? Thanks in advance!

    1. Yes, we used the Killyon Canyon to Lookout Peak AllTrails route. 10.33 miles in 5 hours 59 minutes.

  2. Thanks for the post! Are you knocking them out! How fast are you planning to complete all 6. I’m coming in from Wisconsin to do all 6 in about 10 days. Just wondering what the best plan for car camping in between hikes would be?

    1. I’m spacing them out to complete them by early September. I’d do your hikes in four groups: 1) Grandeur, Lookout, and Gobbler’s Knob; 2) Deseret; 3) Nebo; and 4) Timpanogos. For Group 1, I’d camp at either Spruces (https://www.recreation.gov/camping/campgrounds/232103) or East Canyon (https://utahstateparks.reserveamerica.com/camping/east-canyon-state-park/r/campgroundDetails.do?contractCode=UT&parkId=342191). For group 2 (Deseret Peak), Loop Campground (https://www.recreation.gov/camping/campgrounds/10048215) is right at the trailhead. For group 3, Payson Lakes (https://www.recreation.gov/camping/campgrounds/232228). For group 4, either Timpooneke (https://www.recreation.gov/camping/campgrounds/231938) or Mt. Timpanogos (https://www.recreation.gov/camping/campgrounds/231936), depending on the route to the peak that you take. I’m not sure about Mount Nebo but Timpanogos probably won’t be safe to hike until late July.
