Thanks to the Six Pack of Peaks challenge, we were able to discover this hidden gem of a hike. Volcan Mountain offers gorgeous 360 degree views stretching from the Anza-Borrego desert to the Pacific Ocean. The first 1.5 miles is pretty steep and challenging, but from that point on it is a casual walk up the summit. We definitely suggest taking the “Five Oaks Trail” on the way down for various vistas and viewpoints not accessible via the main trail. Definitely going to be coming back in the near future!
