Was invited to join the I'd Rather Be Hiking ( IRBH ) FB group by a friend that played tennis and was an avid outdoors person – I joined the group and just read posts – When they announced a Thanksgiving Day hike to Wasson Peak I decided to go – I hiked a lot when my sons were in the Boy Scouts, including an 11 day backpack trip at the Philmont Boy Scout Ranch in Cimarron, New Mexico in 2000

The weather was perfect for a hike on Thanksgiving Day and we were fortunate the group leader, Teri Thompson, planned to go on that specific day as the trailhead parking lot was scheduled to close for construction on November 30th until further notice

We started at the Gould Mine Trailhead and took several other trails on our ascent to Wasson Peak – From the peak we took the King Canyon Trail back to the parking lot – We could tell from the descent that the Gould Mine Trail was a more gradual climb than King Canyon Trail

The hike was a great way to work up an appetite for Thanksgiving – I used AllTrails, but didn't know it was possible to record the hike without subscription – So unfortunately I don't have that record – However I did take pictures and others in our group took pictures as well and some had Fitbit smart watches
