Great views at the the saddle, the peak, and along the ridge line coming back down. Some sparse wildflowers (yellows, oranges, purples) blooming along the way. Didn’t see much wildlife. Fairly busy trail for a Thursday morning. The parking lot was overflowing when I returned to my car around 12:30p.
I took a loop route. To the peak (3.5 mi, 1.5 hrs);
King’s Canyon Trail -> Wasson Peak
On the way down (4.3 mi, 1.5 hrs)
Hugh Norris Trail -> Sendero Esperanza Trail -> Gould Mine Trail
I enjoyed the way down much more. The Hugh Norris Trail follows a beautiful ridge line.
I did not so much enjoy the King Canyon Trail nor Sendero Esperanza which seem to be old roads leading up to the different abandoned mine shafts that you pass on the route. The trail on these sections was loose rock, gradual incline.
