After 5 miles driving on unpaved road, I reached the trailhead. This was my third hike of the day, having bagged Camelback and Piestewa earlier, and I started at 1 PM. The weather was warm and pleasant. The trail is fairly graded on a steady uphill, and it took me a little over an hour to reach the saddle. My Garmin fenix recorded 2.4 miles and 1,300 ft elevation gain.
After the saddle (nobody else was there), I ventured further down the trail with the goal of eventually meeting the path to Weaver’s Needle, but never made it that far; I would be chasing the sunset and I forgot to bring my headlamp. The canyon past the saddle was all sadly burned out, apparently due to a fire having occurred sometime over the past year. I wish I had known about the Lone Pine Tree! I did see it up on the ridge but did not know at the time I could’ve hiked up to it.
Hike #3 in my quest to complete all #SixPackofPeaks in 3 days
