Rough road to trailhead – lots of loose gravel with washboards – we didn't know if you go fast or slow over them – we tried both ways and decided slow is better – LOL!    Trailhead is easy to find with either all trails or  Cosmic Ray book (FR 235)  – seems like all trails directions might be less on the washboard road.  Newly remodeled pit toilets at the start of the trailhead so great news there!    The trail is well marked with a steady incline, (Steep at beginning) the whole 2600 + elevation gain – lots of shade and a few wide open areas with beautiful views. Unfortunately, there is quite a bit of burned trees from fires but still beautiful.   At the tippy top is a helicopter pad which is where we had our snacks and took pics, also a fire lookout tower but was closed.    On a clear day views to the north you can see the big hole in the ground aka Grand Canyon and to the east is a spectacular view of Humphreys peak!   Hike took us approximately 2 hrs 20 mins to summit then 1.5 hrs back down.  Highly recommend this one!
