I hiked this peak last year for the first time, and the experience was completely different. Last year it was dry and definitely had the desert vibe going on.

This morning I got there at 7:30 and really enjoyed all of the flowers and vegetation. That was not there last time. I’d definitely recommend wearing long pants and long sleeves because of the trail over taken by so much plant life.

It was a pretty quiet hike because I did not encounter many fellow hikers until I was about halfway down the mountain.
There were a couple areas I had to cross  small streams, but it was very manageable. I also had to keep my eyes out for quite a bit of horse poop at the very beginning of the trail.

There is a few sections where the bugs were very annoying! There were also plenty of quail (pretty sure that’s correct) running around the trail.

There were also some areas that the rain had created deep ruts that I had to work around but it wasn’t anything too difficult.

Overall, I am glad I started early and with the exception of the bugs, this was a very enjoyable hike!
