When the trail is a road, but it's a blocked-off dirt/cinder/crushed lava forest road up a lava dome volcano that takes you past Sunset Crater's Bonito Lava Flow, up to a fire lookout tower and views of Humphreys Peak in the San Frans and Arizona's Painted Desert. Well worth the 2000K+ feet of elevation gain! Be sure to sign the registry book in the ammo can located on the south side of the fire tower platform.
