I'm not sure if leaving High Point for my last peak of the San Diego Challenge was a good idea.  It was an easy hike considering the trail was easy to follow and most of it was on a Jeep Road…but the distance was the main challenge at the end of a 4 day/4 peak goal. That being said…I was happy to have completed my goal of knocking out these last 4 peaks in 4 days.  The Oak Grove trail was interesting in the fact that you are gaining so much altitude in such a short time. I got on the trail relatively early for me..around 9:00am. There was an elderly couple heading the trail as I was parking and setting off.  I as them if they were going all the way to the top.  “Nope,” the man said, I'll leave that the the young folk…although I have climbed a few peaks in my time!”  And that was the last person I saw until I was coming down. I saw a young man running up, but that was it for people.  So Solitude was the gift I received on hiking this peak in the middle of a hot day.  The cell service was awesome at the top, probably due to that big antenna up there! The only complaint I have is in the middle, I'm thinking because the middle is kind of in a gulch, the gnats were unbearable! UGH..  Thank goodness I had my buff with me and and I was able to to make a face covering from my sunglasses down to my neck…unfortunately  I was enjoying being maskless on my hikes…so I was not a happy hiker having to don a full face covering for about an hour of this hike.  The hike back down was quick and easy…I basically took of the breaks and let my legs roll down the hill with my excitement of completing this Challenge!
