Ranger told us 4 to 8 inches 8” being at the top. More like 8 to 2 1/2 feet at the top. A lot of determination and crawling out of hole of snow we fell into we made, and it was worth the veiw and being above the clouds.

Beautiful shots, @seanhissong! I hiked Mt San Jacinto in January two years ago in similar conditions, and WISHED I brought my snowshoes.
So. Much. Post-holing.
@jeffhester thank you! Yeah there was a couple with snowshoes that past us on the way down looked at us like we were crazy haha ok maybe a little crazy!
So im assuming i will have to buy snow shoes what would u suggest for a new person. I am starting my hikes in feb starting with Mount Wilson but im sure the other peaks will have snow
It really depends on the conditions, if it’s fresh snow then snowshoes but if it’s old compact snow you’ll probably need crampons or micro spikes. If it hasn’t snowed in a while the trail might be pretty well walked.
