Mt. Wilson from Santa Anita Canyon is a beautiful hike.  We started at 6:30am. My friend and I were both a little nervous as I think this was the longest hike we’ve ever attempted. But we were well prepared. 10 essentials, 3 liters of water + electrolytes, plenty of food and several layers of clothing.

We started out a little slow. Probably should have picked up our pace a bit in the beginning. But there’s so much to see.  Everything was green and lush after all the rain.  Early on, there were quite of few other hikers on the trail for a Wednesday morning. But as we progressed we mostly had the trail to ourselves.
We stopped often for breaks and finally arrived at the summit by 1:30.  There was a lovely blanket of snow covering the group at the observatory. We looked all over and never could locate the summit sign so took pictures near the Cosmic cafe and the Observatory sign.

The hike down was somewhat quicker but our feet and legs were tired so it was a bit rough at the end.
