About this peak

Wasson Peak is the tallest mountain in the Tucson Mountain District of Saguaro National Park. The recommended loop travels along ridges with grand desert vistas and through some of the thickest saguaro forest in Arizona, about 7.7 miles with roughly 1,900 feet of gain from the King Canyon Trailhead. Old mine workings line parts of the route, and dogs are not allowed on park trails.

Hazards

Little shade and no water on the route, so carry plenty. Summer heat and afternoon monsoon storms make this a cool-season hike. Old mine shafts are visible along parts of the loop, so stay on the trail. Dogs are not allowed on the park's trails.
