Hiked with my college study group up Santiago Peak today, the tallest point of Orange County! We started at 7am, reached the peak at 1pm
The hike was great. We had a cool start early in the morning and we had marine layer for a view. We started on fire/access
Loved the hike until Main Divide Road; it was hot and dusty and seemed never ending. Â The peak itself is not pretty but the views
The only way to do Santiago–via Maple Springs. You do need a high clearance vehicle to get to the TH unless you want to stop
We started around 7 and had the trail mostly to ourselves (we saw a few bikers and only one other hiker on the way up).
Misty mountain day until the last mile or so to the top. Perfect temperatures in the 60’s.  The trail was wet to start with few
