After getting an early 4:30 AM driving start from Escondido, we started hiking at 7:00 AM. There was a bit of chill in the air, but we warmed up after the first mile or so. At about 6,000 feet we noticed we could see out over the Inland Empire, and we could see the top of the “May Gray” clouds filling the valley. That made for dramatic views of the other big mountains of the Six Pack that we would be hiking in the near future. When we summited at about 11:15 AM, we met two other groups who were hiking the Six Pack of Peaks to train for Mt. Whitney. One group had permits to hike the same day as us, August 22! This hike is a difficult 12 miles, so we were tired at the end of the day. But it should help us as we continue to prepare to hike Mt. Whitney.

Hi Jeff,
I would like to replace the photos on my Cucamonga Peak hike log, for some reason they look terrible! The photos in my other 5 logs are fine, so I don’t know what happened to these. It was not my first hike log, either, and I used my phone for my photos. Any possibility of replacing the ones in the hike log with the originals?
Tim
Email them to me at jeff@socialadventures.net and I’ll replace the ones on here. Not sure what happened!
