I called this hike..A Blast from the Past..as this was the place where I went to 6 grade Camp way back in 1978! I suppose somewhere in soul, this was where the seed of my love for being in the woods was sowed!  I camped at the Cuyamaca Rancho State park, which was a comedy of errors in itself. Due to Covid19 the reservation services at these parks are sparse.  When I arrived at the campground around 5pm there were no rangers.  I had my spot reserved so I just went in and set up camp.  I found out the next day I was actually at the wrong campground.  I was supposed to be at Picacho SP.  But due to the fact that the campground was was not full, I was able to get my reservation changed and it all worked out in the end.  So I woke up and go on the trail around 9:00am.  One of my favorite things to see when I am out and about doing my hiking stuff.. is when I see senior citizens out and about on these trails.   It give me great hope for my love of the out doors to continue long into my senior years. Today I say this very elderly couple and they had there canes and they were just out going as far as the could for a little day out in nature. My wish for myself is that someday I'll be that person who is with someone I love and we are enjoying nature the best we can. So as I hiked that day, I was happy in my heart thinking about my future as a senior citizen of the wonderful earth we call home.

I chose to take the Oak Grove trail as it was a more natural trail up to the peak.  The first have was a fun hike with some switch backs and a few bouldering opportunities, but for the most part it was an easy hike up to the top. Eventually, the trail ends and the fire road leads you to the top.  Now views from this peak were probably one of the best for this challenge.  I have an app called Peak Finder and boy did it find a plethora of peaks.  Some were even too far away for the app to be able to identify them.  But it definitely was a view to behold.

I regretted my decision to take the fire road down as it was simple a road walk.  But I was happy to get back to camp and start my supper.
