I’m climbing Baker in July so I decided to do Mount Si with a pack. I was probably carrying close to 30lbs of weight so needless to say this made the hike a lot more challenging. It took me about 2 hours to make it to the top and about an hr and change to get back down. I dumped all my water weight and ran down. No need for micro spikes but the trail was fairly muddy. My partner and dog were technically with me but I was going too slow due to the weight to they ventured ahead of me.

Great way to train! Carrying a pack helps you build strength beyond what the hike alone will do. Pro tip: I load my pack with gallon jugs of water. I can hike up with the water, and then empty it out for the hike back down (less weight and strain on my knees and other joints).
