Training for the Trail
Our monthly theme for January is training, and for our Mappy Hour we welcomed Lee Welton from Trailside Fitness. Lee is a physical therapist assistant and personal trainer who specializes in helping hikers prepare for really long trails — like the 2,600+ mile Pacific Crest Trail, which he thru-hiked in 2018.
Lee has a 12 week program for basic hiking fitness that formed the basis of our 12-Weeks to Hike Fit Challenge, and shared his tips for getting the most out of the program. He also answered questions from the over 60 people in attendance.
