Cucamonga Peak Hike 1
This was my first hike of the 6 pack challenge and it was awesome. I did this hike solo and started later than I planned around 7:30 AM. The trail was in good condition and well marked throughout. It was a very rocky and rugged trail for most parts making every step a crucial decision to avoid tripping or twisting an ankle. The first 3-4 miles is all uphill to the Icehouse saddle and was the toughest for me.
The peak had awesome views as it was a clear day. The peak area is really cool with different areas to explore and take photos. The weather was absolutely perfect on this day but did get warmer has I was completing the hike and going down in elevation. I did not hike with trekking poles but do recommend them and will use them when I hike this area again.
Overall it took me a little over 6 hours to complete the hike including about 30 minutes in the peak eating some food, exploring and taking pictures. Total miles was 12.8 and elevation gain was 4,324 ft. This was a great hike with beautiful views!
Congratulations on your first peak in the challenge, Brian!
By the way, who are the Red Jacket Hikers?
Thanks Jeff! I am not sure who the Red Jacket Hikers are. When I first got to the peak, the sign was on a rock pile that I believe was the actual peak. I took a few photos with the sign and then went down to the area where you stand on the rock that looks like you are hanging over the edge.
