Day 2 of my AZ trip. Started off at 7am at the Kings Canyon Trailhead to hike the Wasson Peak Loop. 8 miles and just under 2,000 feet in elevation gain.
While most hikers took the counterclockwise route, I opted to travel in a clockwise direction. A good choice in my opinion. I spent most of the early morning hiking up in the shade on an exposed trail. It was right around 4.3 miles up to the summit.
As I descended, continuing clockwise, I was still exposed to the sun by was comforted by a nice breeze most of the way down. Not to mention perfect temps in the low 70s.
There were no hikers on trail as I ascended. However, on my descent I easily ran into 7 or 8 groups of two and three hikers each.
Another great day on trail. After the hike, it was check in time for the trailer rally. A rewarding and successful day two. 😁
