So glad I waited until the fall for this hike. Wide open trail for 4.2 miles with no shade. Absolutely stunning views, clear skies. We could see San Francisco, Mt Tam, Mt Diablo and Clear Lake!
only encountered one snake!
Humbling to see all the burnt trees from the 2017 Tubbs Fire.
If you have time, Tubbs Rd is also home of the Old Faithful Geyser. The Petrified Forest is only a few miles away too!

Wait… there’s a geyser and a petrified forest in the area?!?
Yes! On Tubbs Lane is the Geyser (you Pass the entrance on your way to the hike!) and about a mile south is the Petrified Forest.
