Alone on Magee Peak

Magee peak is definitely the most wild of all of the six pack of peaks, it is way out in the middle of nowhere, and the trailhead is hard to find, but this hike is really a hidden gem. When we did it there was not a single other person in sight, the last log in the summit journal was from a week ago, and there was no wildlife to be seen other than a few bugs. This hike really makes you feel like you are the only living thing around. The trail is extremely straightforward once you find it, basically a straight line diagonally up the face of the mountain, and a short bit across the ridge to the peak. The hike has elevation markers every 500 feet that are very visible and remind you of just how much you are climbing! At the top there are great views of lassen national park and Mount Shasta, and you can see Fall River in the distance on the other side. When we went it was too hazy to see into the valley but on a clear day you could almost certainly see Redding below! This is one of the most underrated peaks on the list, and really feels like an exclusive experience the whole time!
