Final Peak of the Six Pack. Mount Bachelor, 7.55 total miles and 2,850 feet in total elevation gain. For todays hike I brought my micro spikes and trekking poles, just in case I ran into a little snow. The drive to the start point was just as described in the SoCalHiker.net web site. The trail was more of a jumble of several trails and dirt roads. Twice I walked right passed turnoffs that I was supposed to take. Stay alert. Although most of the crossing trails end up ing the same spot.
I parked outside the locked gate of the snow park. Walked in about a half mile and began my hike up. This hike boasted some significant elevation gain as the miles progressed. In 3.57 miles to the summit, I gained 2,643 feet in total elevation. I only saw three trail runners as I was climbing up and about a half dozen hikers as I was descending.
Great hike. Some snow near and on the summit, but easy to cross with trail runners and trekking poles.
