Car Camping Before the Hike – Peak 4 of the Challenge
After completing the second hike of the day on Saturday, Sep 22, I headed down to the Gaviota Peak trailhead, arriving in the dark right around 8pm. So, I set up my sleeping mat in the bed of my truck and enjoyed viewing the stars before falling asleep. I woke up around 5 am and had some breakfast and coffee before heading out for my 4th peak of the weekend at 0637. I decided to do the clockwise loop for this hike. Hiking mostly on a truck trail to the summit. However, coming down was mostly on trail and there were several areas of the trail that were washed out. Easily traversable, but I’d advise caution. I finished this hike with 6.41 miles and 2,251 feet in elevation gain in 2 hours 45 minutes. What a perfect end to the weekend on the Central Coast.
