We did this as a loop, heading up the North side and down the South side. This added about 2 miles to the hike but so worth it! This was such a challenging hike I’m not sure I’ll ever do it again, so I’m glad I got to see both sides of the mountain.
The hike itself wasn’t too bad- the trail is well marked and it’s not too steep, it’s just the length of the hike that makes it grueling! There was some scree on the north side and endless switchbacks on the south side, otherwise it was a pleasant hike!

19 miles makes for a grueling day at ANY elevation. Good job!
