Hey, everyone. Today’s hike was to me a “Happy Little Accident” as the late TV painter Bob Ross used to say. I really thought the distance from the start of the trail was 3.8 miles. A round-trip of 6 or 7 miles. Maybe that was possible if I had stayed on Sunrise and then back tracked to where it veered off the peak trail going right. Once I saw the first sign telling me I was 1.3 from the peak, I was so elated. I had only began the hike 10 mins ago. That was my moment of excitement because I knew this moderate level trailhead wasn’t going to be as long as I predicted. I loved how the trail curved around like a slide and passed the tall cactus. I saw it as family-friendly because there were so many houses nearby. Parking wasn’t tough. Some of the hikers seemed to treat these trails like they were a track to go up and down multiple times. It was their outdoor gym. The mountain ranges, Saguaro and other types of cactus were wonderful. No flies or snakes seen. The sun was out with nice mid-60° temperatures. Thank you for recommending Sunrise Peak.
