It seems to get harder every year. It took me 30 min longer than normal – perhaps because of the heat. It was hot. We wanted to get more time on the trail to prepare for Charleston, so went up the south loop a ways, rather than go back down from the saddle immediately. It was tiring, and hot. Did I mention it was hot?

We left the South Loop TH at 0750. I suggest you start at dawn.

I’ve done Griffith peak last weekend. Beautiful but challenging. Get to the parking lot to begin the hike by 8am and you should have plenty of time to go up and back down
