After camping at Islay Campground, I started from the Valencia Peak trailhead. I was considering summiting the peak on the way back and wanted to get a sense of the trail. Spoiler (I did not summit it on the way back). Took a nice break on Oats Peak, before pushing onto Alan Peak. Some poison oak along the trail, but seem to avoid having enough contact to cause any issues. Took a nice break at the peak under the shade of the trees before retracing my route. Nice to have 3 peaks done on the challenge!

What’s your schedule to complete? On this trip?
I considered adding in Gaviota before driving back to San Diego to make it 4 of the 6 on this trip, but the legs were a bit tired and the summit was socked in. I knew I still needed to come back up to the Santa Barbara region (darn 😉 ), so I cruised on past. Thinking November time frame is when I will return to work on it again.
