Day 4 of the Adirondacks Six-Pack of Peaks Challenge
Day 3 of the challenge ended up being a day of rest. And let me tell you, my body needed it. This morning, I woke up early enough to get to the trailhead at 6:30am. The weather report said there was a 35% chance of rain all day. I was hoping to beat the rain on this 4.85-mile hike, but it was not to be. It started raining the minute I began the hike, and it rained the entire way up and down.
The trail was easy to follow. Although the rain made it a little difficult traversing along (straight up) the rocky draw and making my way up and down the final class 1 & 2 rock faces to the summit added some difficulty. There was zero visibility today, but it was still an enjoyable hike. As I was ascending, I ran into two young ladies coming down. They said they went early to catch the sunrise, (I still scratching my head about that). To my surprise there were about 5 other hikes on trail braving the rain and cold. Even though the temps this morning were in the low 60’s and not the low 30’s that I experienced the few days before, it felt a little chilly with the rain.
Peak #5, Cascade Mountain, was a pretty easy day even with the rain. I recorded 4.85 miles and 1,977 feet in elevation gain. One to go! ????
