What a great start to the Appalachian Six-Pack of Peaks Challenge. This hike was my first of the challenge but also served as 25th High Point of the 50 US State High Points.

It was a damp and foggy morning. There wasn’t much of a view until about halfway down from my descent. The trail was easy to follow and with the exception of the final .2 miles or so to the summit, the trail followed the Appalachian Trail. I ran into several small groups of backpackers making their way out after spending the weekend in the mountains. I only saw two actual thru hikers though (Slim Jim and Piff).

Saw a small heard of horses on my way up and then again on my way down.

The summit was unremarkable as it was basically a high point in the woods. No views other than trees. However, I was able to locate a summit marker on a huge boulder as I came up to the high point.

I recorded 9.52 miles with 1,970 of elevation gain.
