We parked at the upper trailhead and hiked up the road about a mile to the independent Mine trail where we put snowshoes on so we wouldn’t post hole. Could have just hiked but since we had snowshoes and it made walking on top the snow easier we used them. The summit half the area was snow free, a bit of a chilly breeze, slightly cloudy so the view was a little obscured but as we ate lunch the clouds moved and we could mostly see the mountains in the distance. Nice hike/snowshoe.

    Great photos! I’m going to go back here when the wildflowers start to come out and I’ll definitely check out the old mining operation next time.
