Mission Peak 16⅔: The Double Dip Summit Special
Also on this hike
Rolled out at 6am for what was supposed to be my 16th Mission Peak summit of the year. Hit the fog early, but once I climbed above the cloud line—boom: I was greeted by a golden sunrise and clear skies. Knocked out summit #16 of the year… or so I thought. About two-thirds of the way down, I ran into a couple of friends heading up, and, well—I couldn’t not join them, right? So back up I went for round two(ish).
Final stats: 10.2 miles, a little over 3,200 ft of gain, and 3h45m of Type-2 fun. Logging it as #16 and 16⅔ because I didn’t quite summit the second time… but my legs sure think I did.
Great photos with the inversion layer, Pete.
Thanks Jeff!
