Mount Saint Helena

What better hike, than to plan one that starts and ends in the middle of wine country?  This clear and sunny day provided great hiking conditions despite the biting cold strong winds.  The peak provided fantastic views, including what some thought views of the Sierras 180 miles away.  We could also see the snow capped Mount Lassen well to the north as well as other peaks including Mt. Tamalpais.

While most of the hike is on a fire road, the views at the summit are well worth the trip.

Important point to remember, the trail turnoff to the parking lot is nondescript, easy to miss so make sure you are tracking your GPS in the last leg of the return trip down.
