Mount Wilson proved to be a journey worth taking, not just a destination. Today, we embarked on the hike despite the forecasted rain, and it ended up being a fantastic day with ideal hiking weather. We began at Chantry Flats, following Winter Creek Way to the Mt Wilson Toll Road, and eventually reached the saddle north of Mt Harvard. Our exploration included both the observatory and radio tower sides, and we think we found the highest point, although the area near the Cosmic Cafe felt like the summit to me. The hike totaled 15 miles with 4800 feet of gain, making it a challenging but rewarding experience. The trail was well-maintained, and the views were breathtaking. Sharing this adventure with a great hiking companion made it even more unforgettable.
