Been wanting to do this for a while.  Planned for my 60th, but did it 45 days early.  Beautiful, sunny morning.  Missed the sign at the beginning to take the Eagles Peak Trail (oh well, reason to do it again)…good shade on the way up.  First 4-5 miles were pretty easy…only about 1200 feet of elevation, but knowing the hike’s stats, we knew the hard part was ahead…and it was.  But it wasn’t a race…slow and steady to the top.  Cool how the Summit Trail at the top turned turned into a single track.  Turkey sandwich never tasted so good at the summit.  Took the path down that goes thru Juniper Campground.  Lots of wildflowers.  Finished in just over 5 hours.  Sunday was cool…seeing Mt. Diablo off in the distance  and knowing we were at the top less than 24 hours before!
