Mt. Eddy-everything I had hoped for.
I arrived at the trailhead at 1:00 p.m. after driving to the area from home. The weather forecast was for 20% chance of rain as well. Normally I like to hike peaks early but my time in the area was limited to a couple of days and I wanted to make the most of it. I saw a couple of hikers completing their hike as I was heading up, I didn’t see anyone else the remainder of the hike.
The hike overall was scenic, I would like to come back when the wild flowers are blooming as I could image how pretty they would be in this setting. The summit had space to enjoy the views, a US survey mark, a register log inside a black tube and some remains of some type of wooden structure. It would have been nice to spend more time at the summit but alas the clouds were gathering and becoming darker. Luckily I made it back to my car just in time, it started raining about five minutes after. I was hoping for some views with solitude and to stay dry, I was not disappointed.
Beautiful photos, Lori! I love the view of Shasta with the summit in the clouds.
Thanks, it was a beautiful hike.
