This is the first time I’ve tried the 6 pack of peaks, and Mt. Wilson is my 1st challenge.

I started solo around 7:00am, ended at 12:30pm on the dot. Total time was 5.5 hours (accelerated because I ran as much on the downhill to try & pick up my kid from school on time) & the incline tracked 4,295 ft of elevation gain.

For a Tuesday I saw a total of 3 other hikers, until the last half mile (~noon) when more people were beginning their hikes.

The trails were fun, just overgrown enough to not feel so pampered, but still well-defined. I went against all-trails and went counterclockwise because of some reviews about the tedious final ascent before the parking lot, if you go clockwise.

Quite a few fallen trees to duck under, some micro-creeks to skip over, and one big rock-pile to get around but overall a pretty comfortable hike. (My legs don’t agree).

Space Museum at the top was a nice breather to look through, the Cosmic Cafe had a sign that they are closed for the season (maybe to reopen in April). The top was peaceful considering I was the only one up there at the time except for some work trucks, cool to see the observatory & telescopes up close.

Descent started with a good amount of rocks to hopefully not trip on, then pretty easy-peasy the rest of the time.

^ Top photo was taken at Echo Rock (don’t skip over Echo Rock, the views are beautiful).
