Take A Hike, San Diego Six-Pack of Peaks, 2 of 6: Hot Springs Mountain!! Another amazing hike with an awesome group!! It was great seeing our friends, meeting new people, and seeing friends we hadn’t seen in a while!!
The trailhead was at the end of the parking lot, which we didn’t notice right away – it would have been a better spot to take our group photo. This was the first time most of the people in our group had done this hike. We had 27 people in our group. The hike was up a fire road, so it was very easy to follow. We each hiked at our own pace, so it didn’t feel like a big group during the hike. We saw a couple of other people on the way up, and quite a few after we reached the summit and on the way down.
The hike was challenging – especially the first 2 1/2 miles of incline. We were rewarded with some snow, which was not expected, but apparently, it didn’t occur to us that we were going to be at 6500 feet a week after a storm. Although, I’m sure people in other areas would laugh at us for getting excited about seeing a couple of patches of slushy white stuff on the ground.
It was a super fun day and Ken and I are feeling so much joy as we reflect on every moment of this day!! Next up will be El Cajon Mt. on Feb 23rd!!!
