Overnight to San Gorgonio
Starting from the South Fork trailhead, I then hiked up to Trail Flats camp for the night. I filled up with water at Lodegepole spring before reaching camp. That last mile to camp was tough with 5 liters of water. I awoke at 3 AM to attempt to reach the summit by sunrise and was on trail at 3:40.
Since most of the trail is on the east side of the mountain, I got to watch changing skies as the sun crept up. While I missed being at the summit for the sunrise proper, it was still a great start of the day. Another backpacker spent the night at the summit, and we chatted over breakfast. I opted to return via Dollar Lake. It was a great trip to cross another peak off the list!
