Palomar Pourin’

Driving there was a breeze. Parking lot is next to the for station off the 79. Make sure to have an adventure pass or purchase a day pass in advance. There was only one other car parked there when I arrived.

The trail was mostly cleared and well maintained. Trail markers along the way made it easy to find your way around. The first few miles were kind of rough but it mellows out shortly after.

The weather was pretty wet until I got past the first layer of clouds. This lasted for about an hour and a half until I got to higher altitude. The weather was less forgiving the higher I got. Rain poncho was used for most of the trip. The peak was pretty wild because of the harsh weather conditions. I had to scarf down my sandwich quickly in order to stay dry.

The way down was pretty harsh because of it being wet. I had to be careful where I step because everything was slippery. One other thing to look out for is splits along the trail. There are many off road Jeep trails and it can be easy to get lost.

Had limited views because of the clouds, but I was able to get a nice view of Oak Grove and its campground. My total moving time was 6.5 hours. Started at 8:30am and ended at 5pm.
