Peak, Potato Chip, and Paid Parking Lot
This year’s hike to Mt. Woodson was different in one way – I did not park along the road near the Fire Station on Highway 67 but used the pay lot off the same highway. I paid first before heading up. Payment is electronic via a QR code and it is $5 for the day. Other than this, the hike to Mt. Woodson was similar in previous years: hike up to the true summit with the antennas before descending to Potato Chip Rock for the photo ops before reascending to the summit area and descending back to the parking lot. There were a number of people on the trail but since I started at around 1600H it was not too hot. I stopped at the true summit for photos before heading down to Potato Chip Rock. There was only one other group there. I took their photos and they took mine. Stayed for a while before heading back down. It was still daylight when I returned.
