Pike’s Peak Plan B – Rocky Mtn

We originally planned to summit Pikes Peak, but the recent weather made the second half of our trip nearly impossible.  Our group went up Friday morning and stayed the night at Barr Camp, half way up Barr Trail.  The next morning after hearing all the horror stories about attempting the summit of Pikes we decided to head back down and summit Rocky Mountain on the way down.  It was a perfect idea, because we were tired from the day before’s 6.5 mile hike and it was a glorious day to hike around the 10K mark.  We also came across the Experimental Forest Site near Rocky Mountain and that was super interesting!
